Stafford Affiliated Event
We had a good day at Stafford, Sunday, Robyn did the nicest test Tinker has done yet. She said it felt like a different horse, she was very pleased with her, so pleased that after a nice clear showjumping, she missed a x-country jump! She's getting there. She's looking forward to more.
Abby did a very neat test on Morgan + after a double clear found herself 5th. Between the 2 of them we had a decent day. As usual Stafford was a very well run event with perfect going + smoothly running sections. Its just a bit further than we really can afford to travel but its such a good event its worth the trip.
.......................................

The stud began in 1984 with MORGAN TALPANICA(Mole). she is still with us, still the boss, living with the youngstock on the hill

Mole's bum with 2007 foal Indi, by our colt Jack(Kilmullen Fionn x Morrigan Lucy Too).

By the year 2000, our kids were old enough to become involved + they proved to be very keen so ponies were needed. We had one or two already but started to change our breeding policy to mainly ponies and fewer horses. We had always aimed for the 14.2h-16h sizes, but now the focus was on 14h-15h ponies and a greater emphasis on performance than in the past. Our current breeding policy pursues:

A. Personality - we like a pony that wants to work, enjoys it + is a nice person.

B. Quality - we want a good looking, well put together pony that has balanced conformation + class, preferably too much bone for a show type; a tough strong sort. I want to see a good back end on a pony - powerfull and agile

C. Talent - the pony must have good paces, be able to really use itself + have a jump in it; it must really come off the ground, on the flat + over poles.

D. Fit, healthy, + tough - we breed from hardy, healthy types that live out + are easy to do.

Generally, the pony must fit in well with family life + perform.
We use all breeds - our criterion is performance. The lines we use are mostly Irish based with plenty of Welsh + Arab + TB mixed in where necessary.
We keep the stock as long as possible - preferably up to 6yr old or so - bringing them on carefully with as full an education as each individual can take. The plan being, when they leave us, they are ready + able for anything. We have more than 1 or 2 satisfied customers; mind you, the first intention is to keep our own family as well mounted as we can arrange. I hope you like our horses as much as we do.

As you can see our Prefix was originally MORGAN but when the Central Prefix Register became more involved in registering horses we had to change it as it was the name of a breed. We had a young lady riding with us at the time called MORRIGAN. Having registered a small number of horses under the name of our farm CEFN GOF + seen what a mouthful people found that, we changed to Morrigan. Over the years we observed the type of horse the average rider needed - something with quality but more emphasis on safe, reliable usability, we aimed to breed an animal that a working person could enjoy + do well with and taking minimal preparation + fuss.
