2012
This year we have 3 foals due -
Morrigan Lucy Too x Morrigan Brennin,
Morrigan Emily x Morrigan Elliot and her half sister
Morrigan Eira x Morrigan Elliot.
Some of our news this year - Sangwyn Cara Joe's winner of the WPCS National Performance Award Trophy for junior Jumping has gone on Lease to Maya Williams near Cardiff. Maya is a keen Pony Club member who is looking forward to competing on Tetrathlon teams. We are looking forward to following Maya's progress, a very nice, quiet and consistant rider, not easily put off. Good luck for this season.
We are grateful to Lona Lewis for her help with the horses this spring, a very professional and experienced horsewoman Lona is a pleasure to work with, her abilities as rider and general yard manager are a huge bonus. We hope to get her out doing some dressage on Melena Morgan this season.
Girls had a great time at the Anglesey Draghounds races this year with Lona coming 3rd on Morgan, Abby only missed 2nd by going the wrong way past the finish post!, Robyn Baker 3rd on Neddy (Enigma) in the 148 and over and Robyn Harris 4th in this race with Mirhaid (Mary).
Tamsin Jessup was 2nd on the evergreen Miss M (by Morgan Dangermouse) this fabulous mare is 18 and fitter, faster and keener than any pony or horse any age!

The stud began in 1984 with MORGAN TALPANICA(Mole).Lipizzaner x AA.
The horses were bred for temp + rideability, quickly gaining a reputation for straightforward, sought after riding horses with reliable quality, many customers coming back for more.
By the year 2000, Siobhan, Abby + Robyn were old enough to become involved + they proved to be very keen. Quality, useful ponies being in short supply, we turned our focus to breeding performance ponies. Morrigan Stud has a long established reputation for producing genuine, well mannered, balanced + well schooled ponies. We expect our animals to have:
A. Personality - we like a pony that wants to work, enjoys it + is a nice person.
B. Quality - we want a good looking, well put together pony that has balanced conformation + class, preferably too much bone for a show type; a tough strong sort. We want a pony with Power, Movement and Elegance.
C. Talent - the pony must have good paces, be able to really use itself + have a jump in it; it must really come off the ground, on the flat + over poles.
D. Fit, healthy, + tough - we breed from hardy, healthy types that live out + are easy to do.

2004+2005 IDHS (GB) junior performance Champion
Generally, the pony must fit in well with family life + perform.
We use all breeds - our criterion is performance. The lines we use are mostly Irish based with plenty of Welsh + Arab + TB mixed in where necessary.
We keep the stock as long as possible, (every 1 has been such a pleasure to produce, we find it difficult to part with any of them) - preferably up to 6yr old or so - bringing them on carefully with as full an education as each individual is comfortable with + capable of. The plan being, when they leave us, they are ready + able for anything. We have more than 1 or 2 satisfied customers. I hope you like our horses as much as we do.
As you can see our Prefix was originally MORGAN but when the Central Prefix Register became more involved in registering horses we had to change it as it was the name of a breed. We had a young lady riding with us at the time called MORRIGAN. Having registered a small number of horses under the name of our farm CEFN GOF + seen what a mouthful people found that, we changed to Morrigan. Over the years we observed the type of horse the average rider needed - something with quality but more emphasis on safe, reliable usability, we aimed to breed an animal that a working person could enjoy + do well with and taking minimal preparation + fuss.
