24.02.07
Unaff jumping at Bryn Derw, we took Joe on Cardi and Abby on Smarti, her first event of any kind under saddle. She was brilliant, she jumped 2 clear rounds then jumped a double clear in the novice for 4th. She seems to have suddenly got the hang of jumping.
01.03.07
Thurs night at Bryn Derw, I took Charli and the girls shared Smarti. Charli and I did a good bit of schooling, we tried everyones patience as I trotted about the clear round, bringing her to a halt when she tried to take a hold. There is no doubting she can jump, she needs to slow down, we end up going too fast. Smarti was again, brilliant, double clear in the novice again for a 4th. She's leaping over the jumps being very carefull. We're very pleased with her.
03.03.07
Saturday
Abby received her start sheet for Kelsall today! her first affiliated Event. Its in 2 weeks and she's been looking forward to it for months.
We all went to Marianbach Eventing Centre today to practice x country as none of us has done any since last autumn, although the girls have been hunting as Susie and Bob have too.
Robyn and Sean jumped everything within 10 mins of us arriving. Abby was a little more steady, she must have jumped most things within 20 mins of arrival with Susie close behind. The crowning moment of the day was watching Susie and Bob jump the corner. I didnt get to see Abby doing it on Morgan but I'll soon see them jumping plenty with any luck. Charli and I were much more sedate, we were trying to be calm and steady, something she doesnt do in a field full of jumps. She was very good though, calmly stepping down the steps at a nice gentle pace and I found that I wasnt as old and stiff as I had thought.
It was a lovely sunny day and we had the best fun we've had in ages.
04.03.07
Tinker(Morgan It' ll Do) had a colt foal this morning, her first, by Carregcoch Bleddyn. a pretty brown with a big white star and two white hind legs. He's Robyn's foal, she's called him Brenin. She had thought it was a filly but I had a look and she found that Jemima wasn't going to do. He has the longest legs and a short back, looks good for a jumping career! Unfortunatly, the weather got quite horrible within hours of him being born so they've been in since.
The girls did Dressage this morning at Bryn Derw in Brynrefail NWDG. Robyn had 2nd on Sean, rode a lovely test and then she did P1 without a caller. Again she did a lovely test but Im told she was down as a senior so wasn't placed. When she had finished she said that although she says she hates dressage, she quite likes it when she gets in there. Abby had a 2nd in the P1 and 2nd in the P18. she rode without a caller in both tests, doing a lovely, neat, quietly ridden test each time. Morgan just needs to relax more, He didnt show his paces anything like as well as he can do. More practice, more outings.
Abby went home to start reading her 101 intro test for the 17th.
05.03.07
Susie texted me to tell us she was in at Kelsall, similar times too so we can go together with any luck. We'll have plenty of fun whatever happens(as long as it doesn't rain)
Sadly the weather was terrible today so I had to give up on our lesson with Karen. She told me though how well they had done at the affiliated Dressage at Northop yesterday, Stena won her Prelim on Ramezez, Anita won her class and Karen won the Elementary. A bit of a clean sweep by Tremorfa Stud!
11.03.07
BSJA at Bryn Derw, Robyn Rode Sean very nicely inthe British Novice to get his 4th double clear, so thats him through to the second round I hope, she's done it with enough left on his card to stay in BN a while yet, a good thing as her legs are still getting the hang of being where he needs them at the right time and I wouldnt like to think of them being out of it till she's a stronger rider. I would really like to see Abby jump him in a few classes and fire him up a bit, he's so laid back, he couldn't be anything but Irish, he's still manages to be very carefull though. Robyn got a clear in the 90cm open but her legs let her down at the double and left him too deep with no rider support, but he's an honest fellow, she's lucky, she can get away with it on him.
Abby was at Glynllifon doing Le Trec with FionaThomas's horses in the morning, she gota 3rd and a 4th, shetold me how Whiskey was very good except when she had to leave him standing imobile for a few seconds, he wandered off, broke into a trot and jumped the jump!
She arrived just in time to jump in the 90cm, she had a pole down, In the Newcomer she was clear but in the jump off, she again did not have her horse between hand and leg at the right moment, a real shame as he was jumping nicely and she was trying hard to get it right.
The rest of the week so far has been feeding, lessons, blacksmith, Big bales, We took a 2year old loose jumping, very nice he is although quite little as yet, Neddy the Noo, He's a Belgian Warmblood x TB.
At the weekend, My mother(Fay) and I went to Rhyl to buy a second hand Ivor Williams Trailer as our old Rice is quite past it. The Ivor Williams is nise and light, to tow and to handle, the ramp, the hitch etc. Its making life much easier allround.
We will be getting a lorry again soon, but there's a lot of other more pressing jobs to get on with first.
17.03.07
Abby did her first Affiliated One Day Event today at Kelsall Hill near Chester. She rode Morgan in the Intro sectn. They finished on their dressage score, 41.6. Abby was quite frustrated with the dressage as he was very spooky about the white flower boxes around the arena, his paces were nice but he was rushing past the boxes with an outside bend. She kept her cool though and it looked good.
The jumping was neat, forward and carefull. The course was a bright, they looked nice and calm, happy and relaxed, The x-country was a busy, up and down course with plenty to do, lots of downhills, doubles, skinnies, flowers etc. thought they would have time faults as he's not a fast pony and it was their first time, but they were 13 seconds within the time! spot on Abby.
Abby says ' It was the best ever, cant wait for the next 1, the x-country was great, I can improve on the dressage'
Susie gave us a lift in her new lorry, she had a great time, loved it, Bob looked like he was having a lot of fun too.
A nice, fun course with lots too think about, quite a challenging Intro course I thought whilst still very simple. As usual everyone was very nice and helpfull.
We came home to find our confirmation for Stafford had arrived, saying we were entered in the Pre-novice! I dont mind myself but Abby isnt eligable for it yet.
19.03.07
Rang Stafford Horse Trials, they told us it was a printing error, My worry was that if they had put us in the wrong class, I knew that Susie is on the wait list, I couldn't see them having room for us in the Intro.
I entered the girls in the local dressage at Bryn Derw, I asked for times after 12, we are jumping at Celt n Gael in the morning, it will be mad but hey ho. I wish I could fit a test or two in on Charli, it would be nice to have a chance to practice myself, but there it is.
At Tremorfa today, Abby on Lucy, Robyn on Smarti. Lucy is going very nicely, she's another that needs an outing. I must go do entries for the next Kelsall and Bradwall now.
25.03.07
Today we went to Celt n Gael(Neds) to do BSJA, Sean and Robyn got their 5th BN double clear for 3rd, Morgan would have been clear but for Abby getting a little bit lost! we blamed it on the party she was at last night, late home.
At midday we went to Bryn Derw(Llestyn's)for Dressage, Abby won the P14 with 61% and Sean was second with Robyn with 58%. Not a bad day all in all
06.04.07
Last night we took Lucy and Smarti Unaffiliated jumping at Llestyn's- Bryn Derw. Lucy only did the clear round just for Abby to have a feel and Smarti did the clear round with Robyn at speed and the novice with Abby at a much more civilised speed. They were 2nd, We are hoping Smarti will be with us for a few months at least for the girls to collect a few Welsh Performance points on her. Robyn is mad keen to do the Working Hunter Pony on her at Mona on Monday, but the Ponies are so hairy still, what with living out all year. We may go just for the experience at least, after all, Smarti may still be here for Anglesey Show M&M workers, that means we had better get Robyn and Smarti to see Anita at Tremorfa lots! get the flatwork improved. Its all very exciting and exhausting all at the same time.
Balloted out of Bradwall, for the 4th year running.
Waiting to hear from the next Kelsall.
08.04.07
Today was BSJA at Bryn Derw. The highlight was the Newcomer, Abby + Morgan won and Sean who has just started jumping this height, with Robyn 'no leg' jumped a clear, allthough his pilot did forget the last jump and had to come round again to jump it. Its nice to know they can do it, Their confidence is coming on in leaps and bounds.
Today 'Connie' arrived to join our herd as a broodmare. She's a grey 13.3 with lovely dapples, a pretty little thing with seemingly quite a calm temperament. Her photo will appear at some point on the broodmare page.
14.04.07
Joe took Cardi to do the Clear Round on Cardi at Llestyn's(Bryn Derw) and Robyn jumped Smarti in the Novice, Im hoping to slow Robyn's riding down before she rides the novice ponies very much and today she managed to do a nice calm double clear, resisting all temptation to put her foot down in the jump off.
Joe did his usual 'poles on the floor' Clear Round, demonstrating great steering and control.
15.04.07
Dressage on Grass at Porth-y-Post, Abby and Lucy won the walk and trot test with 72% on their first outing together. Most impressive was Robyn's Win in the P7 with Sean with 69%. at last, they are starting to show what they are capable of despite the total laid back attitude.
16.04.07
Lesson with Tom Lloyd, Mum on Charli, Robyn on Smarti. Charli Very relaxed and nice.
17.04.07
Took Charli and Sean x-country training at Bryn Llan. Charli is slowly getting the idea of slowing down x-country like she is doing with Tom and the coloured poles. Sean is just great, bumbles over the biggest of jumps in his oh so relaxed way. Nice canter rythym, speed, attitude.
Got our start conformation for Kelsall on sat. Charli and Morgan.
18.04.07
BLUE CHIP!
***************************************
Today the girls received their Baseball caps, Polo shirts, Rugby shirts and Saddle cloths as the first part of their new sponsorship from Blue Chip Feeds. They are very excited about it and are looking forward to building a positive image for themselves and Blue Chip.

21.04.07
Abby got 8th on Morgan with 39 and a double clear! she really enjoyed herself and was very please with him.
We also had 2 foals this morning, Della had a big black(so far) filly by Relmo and Mole had a dark brown/black colt by Jack, Lucy's son by Kilmullen Fionn. Both foals are doing great.
22.04.07
Today it was Smarti and Lucy's turn. Llandudno riders club jumping at Bryn Derw. Abby did the intermediate class on Lucy and jumped a very nice, quiet double clear, Abby was very pleased with her, almost as pleased as she was with Morgan yesterday!
Robyn jumped Smarti in the intermediate with a pole down and she did the open, getting a tidy double clear, the pony is very nippy and clever, Robyn was very tempted to chase the clock but she was sensible and took it fairly steady, she needs to slow down more yet but its looking ok.
We had a call today form the people that bought Pepper, She foaled yesterday! 3 in one day that makes.
06.05.07
Today we made a 2 pronged attack on the world of competition!
Abby went to do dressage with Fiona at Bryn Derw, Caernarvonshire riding club and Robyn and I went to the BSJA Juniors at Valley Equestrian Centre on Anglesey.
Abby won the 1st test with Lucy and the P4 + P10 with Morgan, she had 3rd + 4th with Fiona's pony Marchlyn Hampton Lad. Paula + Tony Chaplin of PASC Equestrian supplies took Abby and her ponies, taking their son Dylan for his dressage test, they are brilliant supporters of our girls, its a major bonus, whenever someone has forgotten something or we find we havent got an item of equipment we just text Paul.
At the BSJA, Robyn won the British Novice with Sean/double clear and was 2nd with Smarti, also double clear, Smarti's first affiliated class. Very pleased. She was 2nd in the Newcomer with Sean so a good day was had by all.
10.05.07
Rodbaston ODE. Abby's 4th and Robyn's first.
Abby did a nice test with Morgan for 37.4, did a really nice scopey clear in the showjumping and was very disappointed to have a run out, despite this, she was placed 13th. Robyn did a very sensible test for 38.7, jumped a very boggle eyed Sean over the scary wall in the showjumping with a stop and a pole down and time penalties,it wasnt the wall he stopped at either! the x country was interesting, as they left the start box, Sean refused to go anywhere near the first jump, wouldn't go any closer than a hundred yards. After a VERY determined Robyn persuaded him that he must do it, they had a clear round. Both girls thoroughly enjoyed the day and are madly looking forward to Somerford Park on sat 19th.
19.05.07
Somerford Park, Great(I'll update this next time I have 5min)
We moved out of house today and into caravan at our land in Bryngwran, no computer for a while so I'll only be able to do bits for now
30.06.07
BSJA at Bryn Derw. Robyn got her 4th double clear on Sean, thats Sean and Smarti through in the British Novice, and she got her first clear in Newcomer on Sean.
01.07.07
Porth-y-Post One Day Event.
We had a great day. Robyn won the Novice section on Kilty Sean with a double clear. Abby was 2nd on little Smarti, she had a good test on Lucy, a bit of a paddy at the start of SJ but then they went well and Abby is very pleased with her. Abby won the Open on Morgan I'm sure with a double clear but so much is going on at the mo, I cant rely on my marbles.
A great day alround, we all enjoyed it and we're really looking forward to next year! A big thanks to Eric and Sylvia for holding the Event and to Sarah and Sion for all their work
07.07.07
North Wales Show. 1st time we,ve been in a few years, a shame cos its a lovely show.
Abby had 2nd in the open WHP, 1st in the Novice,1st in the large M&M on Morgan and she had 1st in the open WHP on Smarti and 2nd in the small M&M
08.07.07
Valley Equestrian Centre BSJA.
Lucy got a double clear in New Recruits and joint 1st, Smarti 3rd in British Novice, Lucy only had 1 down, a huge improvement. Abby is riding them all at the mo cos Robyn has broken a bone in her wrist last week, a silly thing, riding bareback with a headcollar, slid off and put her hand out to save herself. Abby's first round on Sean was a 1 metre open, clear and then she did the Newcomer on all three, getting double clears on them all! Smarti, Sean, and Morgan. A very good day, especially as Mick had finished with the machines and our road was all levelled out when we got home, so he and I got out for a hack. result.
Bryn Derw Dressage

P1 Abby 1st on Fiona Thomas's Marchlyn Hampton Lad,

After a VERY determined Robyn persuaded him that he must do it, they had a clear round. Both girls thoroughly enjoyed the day and are madly looking forward to Somerford Park on sat 19th.

Abby won the Open on Morgan Im sure with a double clear but so much is going on at the mo, I cant rely on my marbles.
A great day alround, we all enjoyed it and we're really looking forward to next year! A big thanks to Eric and Sylvia for holding the Event and to Sarah and Sion for all their work

A very good day, especially as Mick had finished with the machines and our road was all levelled out when we got home, so he and I got out for a hack. result.

Anglesey County Show
We had an interesting show, No Morgan in the Workers as he's off work with an infection, Abby did the open 133 and under with Smarti and had 2nd, Robyn did the open 153 and under with Sean and got dumped! very unusual of Sean. She then did the M&M on Smarti and had 4th and set off to do battle with Sean in the Novice, but again, dumped at the same fence. An offset thing, rather like a x pole oxer. Neadless to say she was quite cross with him by this point. Fortunatly he redeemed himself later on in the show jumping.
Joe took Bumble Bee in the handypony,4yrs old and only ridden once before, he felt that she needed the experience more than 24yr old Cardi. She did a much better job than Cardi would have done and got 5th out of 7. Joe looked very smart and declared that he would like to be smart every time from now on. Smarti and Abby won their Handy Pony class.
BSJA in the main ring, Smarti,Sean and Tinker jumped clear in the Discovery/open, Lucy had a very good 4 faults. In the jump off, only Sean had a pole down due to Robyn getting carried away cutting corners and Smarti (clear)and Tinker had 4th place in each section, Smarti the Disco, we were very very pleased as there were 44 in the class and the weather was horrible. Abby was VERY pleased with the rug Smarti won, sponsered by Tracy and Ken Pritchard.
A very full day and a very satisfying day.
17.08.07We caught the boat to Dublin and after 2days at Millstreet we headed off around Ireland and a tour of the relatives.

Our little local fun show. Joe decided to take Bee when she tried to get into the trailer, He usually only does 1 small jumping class but he decided he wanted to a class in each ring, so they got 2nd in the working hunter lead rein(cross poles)out of 4, 4th out of 7 in the M&M lead rein and they got 1st! in the jumping out of 3. Gran did most of the leading, Robyn helped a bit and Joe smiled a lot.
Robyn took Fydlyn Bardd in his first show under saddle, out of the field, quick scrub and a bit of gloss, she got 2nd of 3 in the M&M and jumped him around the clear round mini course. he was very calm and relaxed all day, he had other people ride him too, also Abby took him over a few of the x country jumps there are scattered about. we were very pleased with him, he's a very sweet pony that only needs minimal work to bring him on. very easy to do.
Jack had his first outing under saddle too, I took him around the x poles and Abby took him in begginer jumping, she hacked him the half hour home after, he's growing up and is ready for a little work now.

PEN-Y-BOL HUNT RIDE
Two 'youngsters' did the 14 mile ride today - Joe (6), riding Cardie, and Jack the young pony that carried Sally round. Abby and Robyn rode Lucy and Sean on ahead but spent a lot of time jumping anything available so Sally and Joe occasionally met them. Mick and Connor 'ferried' the Team about; 'Gran' (Fay) rode round on her Arab, Bru, and Mike rode his mare, Molly so the 'Harris' family was out in force - brill ride. Special pat on the back for Joe and one for Jack too.
